Position Summary:
The Purchasing Agent / Buyer is responsible for purchasing goods and services. The Purchasing Agent / Buyer is responsible for continuously working with suppliers to improve on-time delivery and work to continuously improve raw good/outside service turns and look for cost reduction opportunities.
Education/Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent
Purchasing: 2 years (Required)
Microsoft Office Products: 2 years (Preferred)
Position Responsibilities:
Assist sales with material pricing/availability for customer quote requests.
Generate request for quotation, negotiates with and selects suppliers. Create and place purchase orders for goods and services understanding customer timelines.
Execute standard purchasing processes. Calculate correct order quantities according to customer purchase orders. Reviews current inventory level and project timelines.
Check and confirm supplier confirmations with PO’s.
Handle and reconcile receiving and invoice issues.
Coordinate and reconcile supplier issues.
Work with suppliers and/or freight carriers to assure on-time delivery. Proactively identify, communicate, and assist with resolving materials issues.
Work with sales, engineering, and manufacturing.
Utilize ERP system to perform inventory analysis and help oversee inventory levels, WIP, and month end.
Work with manager on reporting capacity planning, base inventory management, supplier replenishment, and procurement activities.
Work with manager on reporting supplier performance, maintain data integrity and measure performance on key related indicators. (delivery, past due PO, open PO acknowledgements, PO expedites, material cycle time, etc)
Maintaining/developing partnerships with suppliers.
Effective negotiation of price, quantity, delivery lead-time, supply arrangements, and terms and conditions on materials and services, ensuring the highest value.
Work with others to identify cost saving opportunities.
Maintaining accurate purchasing records in ERP system.
Timely and accurate completion of duties.
Ability to apply creative problem approaches and ideas to solve problems for the area of responsibility.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred - certification in supply management or two-year degree or bachelor's degree in materials management or production operations.
Minimum 2 years purchasing experience.
Willing to be team player and perform additional tasks as necessary.
Strong project management, time management and analytical skills.
Ability to read and properly interpret CAD drawings.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance - physical presence in the workplace.
Computer skills: proficient in Microsoft products. Prior experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software a plus.
Strong sense of urgency and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment a must .
High level of detail: achieves efficiency, accuracy, and relevancy of information processing and reporting as it applies to this position
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as supplier quotes, invoices and various documentation, paying particular attention to costs and grammar -such as terms and conditions. Ability to communicate (written and oral) effectively with suppliers and employees.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
